Former Pakistan spin bowler Danish Kaneria slammed Indian team management for not playing leg-spinner Rahul Chahar. As a result, India suffered back-to-back losses against Pakistan and New Zealand in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Indian batters failed to score enough in World T20

In both matches, after losing the toss, India were asked to bat first, and their batting order did not live up to the expectations they boasted before the start of the tournament.

India could post only 110/7 against New Zealand with Ravindra Jadeja topping the batting charts with his unbeaten 26-run knock.

Varun Chakravarthy, who played as the second spinner alongside Jadeja, hasn’t picked a single wicket. In fact, no bowler barring Jasprit Bumrah managed to dismiss any batsman in the tournament so far.

If Rahul Chahar doesn’t inspire confidence, you should have kept Yuzvendra Chahal: Danish Kaneria

Yuzvendra Chahal, who is India’s highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals, was not included in the T20 World Cup squad.

Kaneria questioned the Indian team management for not picking Chahar in the team and also blamed them for dropping Chahal from the squad.

You excluded Yuzvendra Chahal from the squad. Rahul Chahar is sitting on the bench. Are you going to make him sell eggs from the bench?” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

“If you see every team in the World Cup, the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Adil Rashid, Rashid Khan, Shadab Khan – there are countless leg-spinners performing at every venue. Even yesterday, Hasaranga picked three wickets against England and leggies are picking up scalps. But if Rahul Chahar doesn’t inspire confidence, you should have kept Chahal,” he added.

India will play their next match against Afghanistan on Wednesday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

India must win their remaining three games and also depend on some results to go their way if they stand to qualify for the semi-final stage.
