Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee reckons that Australia’s T20 World Cup 2021 squad is one of the best squads team has ever had.
Team Australia is having an extremely poor run in the T20I cricket lately, they have faced 5 back-to-back series defeats against 5 different teams ( India, England, West Indies, New Zealand and Bangladesh).
Notably, Australia despite being the most successful team in the 50-overs World Cup has failed miserably in the T20 World Cup. The best performance of the team in the T20 World Cup came in the 2010 T20 World Cup where they were the runner ups.
However, with the return of big names team is expected to deliver a good performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
Speaking to foxsports.com.au former Australian speedster Brett Lee asserted:
“I reckon this is probably one of the best squads that we’ve had,”
England, They’re Always A Big Threat – Brett Lee
Former Aussie pacer believes that England will be a big threat for all the teams considering the strong squad they have. He stated:
“England, they’re always a big threat because of the squad they’ve got and the experience they have.”
However, Lee added that team India led by Virat Kohli is his favourite to clinch the victory in the marquee tournament. Brett Lee asserted:
” But, for me, India is my favourite. You think about India dominating all formats but also because of the Indian Premier League, the young guys coming through, they’ve got some really good pace now as well and their top order can be unstoppable,”
Although India is Brett Lee’s favourite to win, he said being a patriotic person his support will always be for Australia and he wants Aaron Finch and co. to finally win a T20 World Cup trophy.
“India would definitely be one of the top picks and could definitely win this thing. I’m very patriotic, I want Australia to win and I think they can, but India definitely will be in the final and I think Australia has their best chance,” Brett Lee added.
Meanwhile, Australia are placed in Group 1 of the tournament alongside England, South Africa and West Indies. They will start their campaign with a battle against South Africa on October 23 in Abu Dhabi.
