England vice-captain in white-ball matches Jos Buttler has insisted that England can lift the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 and do the World Cup double despite not having the services of ace all-rounder Ben Stokes and fast bowler Jofra Archer.

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer played a huge role in England’s maiden ODI World Cup victory in 2019 as Stokes made a brilliant half-century in the tournament final against New Zealand at Lord’s and Archer bowled brilliantly throughout the encounter and even bowled the super over that kept New Zealand tied at the score, giving England the win on boundary count.

However, the two players will not be available for England who will look to win their second T20 World Cup title after 2010.

The Depth We Have Is Just Fantastic: Jos Buttler On England’s Chances In T20 World Cup Without Ben Stokes And Jofra Archer

Ben Stokes has pulled out of the T20 World Cup 2021 to focus on his mental health and give time to his finger to heal, which he had broken during the first half of the IPL 2021 while playing for Rajasthan Royals.

Jofra Archer, on the other hand, has been troubled by his dodgy elbow since last year and had to undergo surgery to repair some damage to his finger which he cut while cleaning his fish tank. He has been ruled out of all cricket for the remainder of 2021.

“The depth we have is just fantastic. Watching a whole new white-ball squad win against Pakistan in the summer showed how much pressure we are under to perform. Look at the World Cup squad. Two superstars in Stokes and Archer are not there who are a huge miss, yet you look down that list and think even without those guys we’ve still got a brilliant team who can win the tournament,” Buttler told the Mirror.co.uk.

England has been placed in Group A in the Super 12s round along with Australia, West Indies, and South Africa, along with two qualifiers from the first round of matches. The three lions will face-off against the team which beat them in the finals of the T20 World Cup 2016, the West Indies on October 23 in Dubai.
