Team India opener KL Rahul stated that the squad is benefitting from the presence of MS Dhoni in the dressing room, who is known to have an aura of calmness around him. Rahul was also excited to talk to the 40-year-old former skipper and pick his brains regarding captaincy as well.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup, Dhoni agreed to join the Indian team as a mentor for the tournament. He was seen in the dressing room having a chat with the youngsters as well as the seniors, and it’s quite clear that everybody respects the World Cup-winning skipper.

Obviously, MS Dhoni back with the team feels amazing because we have played under him, and we have looked towards him as a mentor even when he was our captain. We loved having him in the dressing room when he was the captain. We loved the calmness.

We have all looked up to him to help us out; to have him here is amazing. This gives us a sense of calmness, I have enjoyed spending time with him in the first two to three days, and it has been a lot of fun. Looking forward to chewing his brain about cricket, captaincy, and all things cricket,” Rahul said in a conversation for Red Bull on Clubhouse.

The Karnataka player, Rahul, added that the recently concluded IPL 2021 final is unlikely to be Dhoni’s last game. However, the CSK skipper himself hinted at the possibility of playing a farewell game next season before retiring for good.

None of us are sure that IPL 2021 final was his last game. I do not think, I would love to see MS Dhoni play for a lot more years if he could. I think Dhoni can give any of us stiff competition. He definitely is a guy who can hit the ball furthest, he is very strong, and he is good between the wickets. He looks the fittest. It is good fun to have him,” Rahul mentioned.

India played their first warmup match against England yesterday, where Rahul scored a sublime fifty at the top of the order. The Men in Blue won by six wickets with an over to spare, starting off the preparation for T20 World Cup on the right note.
