Watch: Naveen ul Haq Smiles From Dugout After Broadcasters Show Similarity Between His And Jasprit Bumrah's Bowling Action

Afghanistan pacer Naveen ul Haq smiled after the commentators were discussing how similar his and Jasprit Bumrah’s actions are. The incident took place during the match between Afghanistan and India at the Abu Dhabi stadium.

During the crucial Super 12 stage match, the broadcasters began discussing the plenty of similarities in the bowling action of Bumrah and Naveen. Both of them had a similar extension of arms, bracing of the front leg, and a high release.

Many of them have already likened Naveen to Bumrah. The hyperextension of the elbow as it goes over, the arm closes in, all pretty similar. Different pace yes, but the braced front leg – look at that hyperextension of the bowling arm, the elbow. You see where they’re delivering from – so far in front of the popping crease,” Mpumelelo Mbangwa was quoted as saying in the commentary box.

Here’s Naveen ul Haq’s reaction on being compared to Jasprit Bumrah’s action:

India defeated Afghanistan by 66 runs in the Group 2 match. KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma scored twin fifties before quickfire cameos from Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya took India to 210/2, the highest score in the tournament so far.

In the run chase, the Afghans gave it their all but it was a mountain too steep to climb eventually, as they were restricted to 144 in their stipulated 20 overs. Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2/14 in his first game of the T20 World Cup 2021.
