Sarfaraz Ahmed is one of the popular names in the Pakistan circuit for a long time and he was the captain of the nation when Pakistan won the Champions Trophy in 2017. The wicket-keeper batsman has lost his place in the squad last year to Mohammad Rizwan who has been in tremendous form ever since coming into the squad and Sarfaraz has missed out on the T20 Worldcup squad as well with Azam Khan being chosen as the backup wicketkeeper option.

The 34-year-old has some decent numbers in T20Is with 812 runs in 60 T20Is at a strike rate of 126 and he has three fifties in the format as well. He had played a lot of important innings coming in difficult situations and he has among the runs in the PSL  2021 as well with 321 runs in 10 innings for the Quetta Gladiators. The former captain deserved a place in the T20 Worldcup squad.

Shoaib Malik:

Shoaib Malik is one of the veteran players who has still been playing T20 cricket around the world and hasn’t announced his retirement as well. He last played a T20 international for Pakistan in 2020 September against England and has missed out on the squad since that. The right-hander has immense experience in T20 cricket and is one of the fittest cricketers going around the world still.

Malik has scored 2335 runs for Pakistan in 116 T20Is and he is very versatile as well. He can finish the innings coming in the middle order or play according to any situation. He is one of the most underrated T20 cricketers and he would have been very useful to the Pakistan side in the T20 Worldcup.

Fakhar Zaman:

Fakhar Zaman has been in fine form in recent times for Pakistan including the 193 against South Africa he hit and he has shown great six-hitting skills as well. The left-hander did not have the greatest of PSL 2021 which could have impacted his selection in the T20 World cup. But it did look like he was almost a certainty for the T20 Worldcup until Pakistan brought in T20 skill-based players.

Zaman has played 53 T20Is so far scoring 1021 runs with five fifties and he has a strike rate of 136.3. The 31-year-old though has been named in the travelling reserves for the T20 Worldcup squad deserves a place in the squad. Zaman was the first Pakistan cricketer to score a double century in ODI cricket.
