Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali became a victim of online abuse after dropping a crucial catch of Matthew Wade during Pakistan’s semi-final clash against Australia in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The right-arm pacer also did not have a good day with the ball, as he conceded 44 runs in his 4-overs spell.

However, the game-changing moment was Hasan Ali dropping Matthew Wade’s catch during the 19th over. Australia needed 22 runs to win off 2 overs. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi took the ball in his hands. On the third ball, Matthew Wade smacked a shot towards mid-wicket, which wasn’t timed well. Hasan Ali dropped the catch, which went through his hands.

Hasan Ali Faces Abuses On Social Media

Ali’s fault did not go well with many fans who took to social media to abuse him. Hasan Ali’s social media accounts were filled with abuses by many, who blamed him for Pakistan’s loss in the semi-final.

Matthew Wade’s dropped catch turned out to be a crucial moment as the Australian wicketkeeper slammed 3 consecutive sixes after that delivery. Had Hasan Ali not dropped his catch, the scenario would have been quite different, as Australia had already lost 5 wickets till that point.

With his 17-ball 41 masterpiece, Wade managed to bag the victory for Australia by 5 wickets. Earlier, Pakistan posted a total of 176-4 in the 1st innings with a 67-run knock by opener Mohammad Rizwan. Fakhar Zaman also scored a fabulous knock of unbeaten 55 runs.

Australia lost Aaron Finch for a duck. However, David Warner kept the hopes alive with his 49-run knock. At one moment, Pakistan had dominance in the match, restricting Australia to 96-5. However, Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade’s 81-run stand made Australia the ultimate champions. Now, Australia will face New Zealand in the final.

Pakistan were looking for favourites in the tournament. They won all of their matches during the super 12 round quite comfortably, defeating powerful teams like India and New Zealand. Pakistan was also the only team that remained unbeaten during the super 12 round.
