T20 World Cup 2021: India Has An X Factor In Varun Chakravarthy, Not Many Batters Have Played Against Him – Dinesh Karthik

Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik, who was part of India’s T20 World Cup 2007 winning side, feels mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy will be India’s X-factor in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

India is placed in the Group 2 of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 along with Pakistan, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland and Namibia. Virat Kohli-led side will commence their Super12s journey with a battle against arch-rivals Pakistan on 24 October in Dubai.

Meanwhile, Dinesh Karthik feels that India’s bowling attacks has improved a lot in the last few years, and the addition of mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy will be beneficial for India.

“India’s bowling attack has improved a lot over the past few years, which is why we’re now winning abroad. Our bowling attack of (Jasprit) Bumrah, Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), (Mohammed) Shami and Shardul Thakur is very good. In addition, we have an X factor in Varun Chakravarthy. Not many batters have played against him. He’s a mystery spinner; such cricketers are rare and he’s one of a kind,” said Karthik on ABP News.

100% Varun Chakravarthy Will Play, There’s No Doubt – Dinesh Karthik

The wicketkeeper-batsman believes that Chakravarthy will definitely be part of the playing XI in the battle against arch-rivals Pakistan. He said:

“100% he will play, there’s no doubt. Jadeja, Varun, Shardul Thakur and Jasprit Bumrah will be in the XI against Pakistan. One of Shami and Bhuvi will be the fifth bowler,” 

The Chennai-born cricketer lauded Chakravarthy and backed him to become the Player Of The Tournament in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. Karthik said:

“I would love for Varun Chakravarthy to do something special. He looks good and he has been one of the most economical bowlers in the IPL, which has some of the best players in the world. I wish he becomes the Player of the Tournament because he has that X-Factor,”
