Ahead of the semi-final clash against New Zealand, Wood had a fun conversation with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in which he was asked if he could steal skill from a rival, then who would it be to which he replied that he wants to steal Bumrah’s yorker delivering abilities. He said:

Bumrah. Maybe, five steps of having a perfect yorker.”

He was further questioned, “How would you steal?” to which speedster Wood replied:

I would probably get something like in the movie Space Jump. Instead of getting a basketball, I would get a cricket ball. Suck all the energy out of him and then I get the superpower.”

England will be hoping for a better performance from Wood, who had a poor outing in the sole game that he has played in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 against South Africa. Notably, Wood gave away 47 runs in 4 overs quota and went wicketless.
