Former Australian captain Ian Chappell has said that Kane Williamson’s New Zealand have a strong bowling unit and they rely more on the bowling so Australia’s batting performance will be the key in the final of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

Australia and New Zealand will lock horns at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium tonight and it’s guaranteed that a new T20 World champion will emerge as both Australia and New Zealand have never won the T20 World Cup Trophy.

Meanwhile, Speaking to Wide World of Sports, Ian Chapell said that David Warner will play a big role for Australia in the crucial clash because if he keeps going he can put a lot of pressure on New Zealand.

Warner and Australia’s batting, I think, is the big thing. If Warner gets going, he can put the game out of your reach in a big hurry. They’ve got pretty strong batting.

“New Zealand probably rely more on their bowling, so I’d say Australia’s batting is the key. That’s the thing with T20 cricket. One or two bad overs (can lose the game), or one or two good overs can win you the game,” Ian Chapell stated.

David Warner is having a sensational run in the showpiece event as he has already scored 236 runs in 6 games and is 67 runs away from being the highest run-getter of the T20 World Cup 2021.

There have been a lot of questions raised over Steve Smith’s position in the team after his series of poor performances. However, skipper Aaron Finch in a pre-match press conference had said that he is not concerned about Smith’s form because he is a world-class player.

Now, Ian Chappell has stated that Steve Smith is a very good player and he does very good in the team by coming out to bat early if Australia loses quick wickets and come out to bat late if the top-order batters fire.

“If he’s not a valuable player in the game, there’s something wrong with the game. That would be my answer. He’s a very good player. If the game can’t find a spot for him then there’s something wrong with the game.

“They seem to send him in early if they lose a wicket early to stabilise things, and if they get going, he slides down the order,” he added.
