Former Pakistan player Salman Butt said that Indian batsman Ishan Kishan could be used anywhere in the batting order.

Ishan Kishan opened the innings with KL Rahul in Rohit Sharma’s absence against England on Monday’s warm-up match.

Ishan Kishan is in the amazing form: Salman Butt

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman slammed 70 runs from 46 balls during India’s chase of 189.

Ishan hammered 20 runs in an Adil Rashid over, striking two fours and two sixes. He walked off unbeaten on 70 after he was dropped by Liam Livingstone in the 16th over.

Butt feels that Ishan can either bat at No.3 or in the middle order, and India won’t change their opening combination pair of Rahul and Rohit.

Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will open. I don’t think that will change. Ishan Kishan can bat one down or in the middle-order, or after Virat Kohli. He is in amazing form and can bat anywhere in the batting order,” Butt said on his YouTube channel.

“I haven’t seen him in any kind of trouble either against the new ball or against the spinners. These are very good signs because he played Moeen Ali very well. Adil Rashid is a very good leg-spinner, and he attacked him in a rather impressive fashion. As an opener, he was confident against the fast bowlers as well,” he added.

KL Rahul’s knock against England was highlight of India’s batting

KL Rahul blazed 51 runs in the early overs as he hammered six fours and three sixes to reach his half-century in 23 balls.

India won by seven wickets with one over remaining. Butt was impressed with Rahul’s innings and said it looked like if he was playing against a bowling machine.

“The highlight of India’s batting, according to me, was KL Rahul’s knock. If anyone wants to watch beautiful batting, they must watch KL Rahul bat. The way he took on England’s bowlers, it seemed like he was batting against a bowling machine,” Butt asserted.

“He was able to hit the ball anywhere at his will. The standout aspect of his innings was that most of the shots he played were correct strokes. The kind of shots he played demonstrated the dangerous form that he is currently in,” he added.

India will play the next warm-up against Australia on Wednesday before they take Pakistan on October 24 in the opening game of the Super 12 stage.
