“I Am Usually Big On Pre-match Prep” – Ish Sodhi

Ish Sodhi performed brilliantly for New Zealand in the high-profile battle against India as he was able to pick two big wickets for the team. In the 8th over Sodhi dismissed Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma and later he went on to pick the wicket of Indian captain Virat Kohli in the 11th over.

During the post-match presentation spinner, Ish Sodhi said that he gives a lot of time on the pre-match preparation but staying in bio-bubble hasn’t helped him in that field. He stated:

I am usually big on pre-match prep, with this bubble life we haven’t been able to see the ground until the day we come to the ground.”

Sodhi further added that the wicket at Dubai International Cricket Stadium was very different from the Sharjah surface and they had to adapt pretty quickly. He said:

The wicket here was one we had to adapt to pretty quickly. It was very different to what we played in Sharjah. The boundary sizes were very different.”

Ish Sodhi also lauded Tim Southee for picking the wicket of KL Rahul in the last over of the powerplay. Ish Sodhi asserted:

A big part of our game is using the bowl spin bowlers in the middle. It was set up by the powerplay bowlers. Tim Southee getting that wicket late in the powerplay was massive for us and allowed us to do our job through the middle.”
