T20 World Cup 2021: Twitter Reacts As Pakistan Break World Cup Jinx; Thrash India By 10 Wickets
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan put on a show as Pakistan inflicted a demoralizing 10-wicket victory on their arch-rivals, In Cupdia. It was a night where Babar’s men got everything right after winning the toss to earn their first win over India in World Cups.
Chasing a target of 152, which seemed par at the time, Azam and Rizwan were clinical with the bat. They were watchful against the spinners while taking on the quick bowlers. Once they were set, it was an exhibition of strokeplay from Pakistan’s best batsmen.
The Indian bowlers didn’t have an inkling of a chance against the opening duo. They were extremely wayward with their lines and lengths, failing to make any kind of inroads. While Babar reached his fifty in 40 balls, Rizwan took one more to reach the milestone.
Earlier, it was the 21-year-old Shaheen Shah Afridi who breathed fire with the ball. He removed both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul with amazing inswingers, and neither of them had a clue about it. Skipper Virat Kohli stopped the rut – first with Suryakumar Yadav and then with Rishabh Pant.
The latter even had a few wonderful one-handed sixes, something that has become synonymous with him. The death overs saw an influx of runs for India, but it was nowhere close to enough on the night. Nevertheless, it will act as a wake-up call for the team and they’ll be happy it came in the first match instead of a knockout game.
