Young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was seen paying respect towards the bat after he accidentally stepped on it in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 clash against Namibia on Monday, November 8 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Notably, India won the last match of the Super 12 stage in a dominating manner by 9 wickets. Talking about the match, India won the toss and elected to bowl first and the bowlers did a very good job especially the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin as they picked a 3-wicket haul each and were very economical. Also, Namibia batters played competitive cricket and posted 132 runs on the board.

Chasing the target India openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul had an amazing 86 runs partnership and in the end, KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav marched India towards a victory in 15.2 overs.
However, the victory was not enough to qualify for the semi-finals. From Group 1 England and Australia made it to the semi-finals and from Group 2 Pakistan and New Zealand were the semi-finalists.

In the 9th over Namibian, Nicole Loftie-Eaton dived to complete a run on the wicketkeeper’s end and Pant who was standing there accidentally stepped over his bat. Notably, Rishabh Pant tried to avoid stepping on the bat by jumping but he failed and landed on the bat.
After that Rishabh Pant instantly touched the bat and brought his hand close to his chest to show his respect towards the bat.

Talking about the performance of Pant, he didn’t have a very good run in the marquee event as he was able to score only 78 runs in 5 games at a strike rate of 125.80 with his highest score being 39.
