Australia pacer Mitchell Starc has stated that the team finally has all its players available and is raring to go, so the only result they’re looking for is the T20 World Cup win. The Aussies are grouped alongside West Indies, South Africa, and England in the World Cup.

Speaking to reporters from Abu Dhabi, Starc pointed out that their poor form in T20Is of late is something to forget. He insisted that the squad wasn’t full-strength in the last few years, but they have a good chance now that the senior players have been assembled.

Over the last three years or so, we haven’t always had our full-strength Twenty20 team available. Now we’ve got everyone available we’re looking forward to getting stuck in and hopefully showing the class that we have. We’ve set out to win the World Cup, we don’t want anything less,” Starc said.

Australia recently toured Bangladesh and West Indies, where they lost the series by an identical margin, 1-4. It was a shellacking they aren’t used to, especially at the hands of Bangladesh.

We had some really young, inexperienced players and some young guys… thrown in the deep end really quickly. Yeah, not our best tour, but obviously now we’ve got our full-strength team available, guys coming off (the Indian Premier League) in really good form, it’s up to us now,” he added.

Looking forward to being a part of our first T20 World Cup win – Mitchell Starc

Australia has never won the T20 World Cup, and the 31-year-old Starc expressed his desire to be part of the team that wins it for the first time.

You almost have to play some of your best cricket from the get-go. It’s important for us to play well against South Africa and hopefully carry that through the tournament. It’s no secret that we haven’t won a T20 World Cup, so I’m looking forward to hopefully being a part of our first one,” Starc added.

Australia begins its T20 World Cup campaign against South Africa on October 23.
