Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup owing to s stress-fracture. He is likely to have surgery sometime later that might prevent him from playing the Test series against Australia at home later next year as well.
Bumrah played the last two T20Is against Australia and did not play the first T20I against South Africa. Later it was confirmed that he has been ruled out with a back injury and will also miss the T20 World Cup. Mohammed Siraj has replaced him in the Indian squad for the Australia series.
Meanwhile, there are reports that Deepak Chahar is likely to replace Bumrah in India’s T20 World Cup squad and Avesh Khan will replace him in the reserves. Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at why Jasprit Bumrah should not have been a part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
3 Reasons Why Jasprit Bumrah Shouldn’t Have Been A Part Of India Squad For T20 World Cup 2022
1) No Cricket Since July 2022
Bumrah last played for India in July this year when India toured England. Since then, he missed the Asia Cup and was drafted into the side for the Australia T20Is. He was having persistent back problems before the Asia Cup as well. Bumrah was not included in the playing XI for the first T20I and played the next two games. Lack of cricket might well have gone against him had he been fit for the mega event.

2) Consistent Injuries
Bumrah has had lower-back problems for a long time now. He has not played consistent cricket since the England series and even before that. Previously as well, he missed key fixtures due to injuries which included the fourth Test against Australia in the 2021 series. The management has feared him from playing consistently in recent times so that he does not aggravate his back problems.
3) Lack Of Match Practice
Jasprit Bumrah has played only five Tests, five ODIs and as many T20Is in 2022. The lack of match practice is the biggest reason why Bumrah would not have been an ideal choice in the T20 World Cup. In his last T20I, the third and final match against Australia, he had conceded 50 off four overs – his worst T20I figures ever.
