During England’s three-match ODI series against Australia in November, Jason Roy is expected to make his limited-overs comeback.

After a disastrous home summer that saw him average 12.66 in England’s T20 International matches against India and South Africa and manage only 51 runs in six innings for Oval Invincibles in the Hundred, Roy, 32, was dropped out of the T20 World Cup team for England. He just lost his central contract with the ECB, but he kept his incremental contract.

He will, however, keep his spot in the 50-over lineup and is anticipated to be chosen to England’s ODI squad the following week for the series against Australia, which begins on November 17 and concludes with games on November 19 and 22.

Jos Buttler Backs Jason Roy

Although Jason Roy struggled to score runs in England’s home ODI matches this summer, scoring just 121 runs at an average of 24.20 across five innings, his troubles were mitigated by the fact that the batting conditions were the most difficult in recent memory. Even as recently as June, he made an unbeaten 101 against the Netherlands.

During the recent tour to Pakistan, Jos Buttler, England’s white-ball captain, stated that Jason Roy was “my first pick as 50-over opener.” “We know what a brilliant player he is when he’s on song,” Buttler said. “He will be a vital player for England moving forward. His talent is never going to be in question.”

Alex Hales Not Planning To Take Part In ODI Cricket

Despite his reintroduction into the international team, Alex Hales, who will open the batting for England at the World Cup, is not anticipated to be a part of the ODI squad.

He renewed his contract with Team Abu Dhabi earlier this week, and the franchise’s management anticipates him to be available for the duration of the Abu Dhabi T10, which begins the day after the third Australia ODI.

Given that he hasn’t participated in a List A game since May 2019, Hales stated in Pakistan that he does not anticipate being a part of the 50-over setup. “I love T20 cricket,” he said. “It’s always been my passion. I’m 33 now and I want to give all my energy and attention to being as good as I can in that format.”

Jason Roy Motivated After T20 World Cup Rejection

After being rejected from the T20 World Cup, Jason Roy wrote in an Instagram post this week that he was “motivated to say the least.” “Obviously gutted and have a range of emotions after not making the World Cup squad,” he wrote.

“However backing the boys to lift the trophy! Going to be an awesome tournament. Getting the work in and pushing hard to be back where I want to be. Motivated to say the least. Plenty opportunities coming up and excited for what’s ahead.”

For the ODI series, England is anticipated to make a number of changes to their T20 World Cup roster. The day following the first ODI, on November 18, four members of the World Cup team (Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, and Mark Wood) are scheduled to fly into Abu Dhabi for a training camp ahead of the Pakistan Test trip.

They will thus need to bolster their lineup with middle-order batsmen. James Vince and Sam Billings are both in the running to return to the ODI lineup, and Olly Stone and Tom Helm can be regarded as fast-bowling backups.

The three-match ODI series, which will take place at Adelaide Oval, the SCG, and the MCG, is not a part of the World Cup Super League.
