The Gabba in Brisbane will host the England vs New Zealand game on November 1. This is almost a must-win game for England who is second on the points table but still, this is an important game nonetheless. New Zealand plays Ireland while England plays Sri Lanka in their final Super 12 game of this T20 World Cup.

England began their Super 12 campaign with a win over Afghanistan. They lost their next against Ireland before their previous game against Australia was washed out due to rain. They shared the points which is why they are now at three points from two games.

New Zealand are still unbeaten in Group 1 having won two of their three games. They won by 89 runs against the Aussies by 65 runs against Sri Lanka. Their big win was designed by a century by Glenn Phillips who almost played a lone hand taking his team to 167 which proved enough in the end.

“We managed to get to a competitive total. I couldn’t put away the slower ones, but managed to execute my skills against the pacers, especially when pace was on. The bowlers did well later on. I did cramp up a bit, lack of salts possibly there, the boys asked me not to take any further risks on limping away).

They swung the new ball (Boult and Southee), the slower ones were holding onto the surface, getting early wickets was crucial and we managed to do that early. It was an exceptional performance by our bowlers and fielders” said Phillips.

The ENG vs NZ match will start at 6 pm local time which is 1.30 pm IST on November 1. The 33rd match will also be the last of this T20 World Cup at this venue. There is a prediction of rain during the day. By the evening the rain is expected to stop and the temperature will be 18 degrees. The big ground dimensions at the Gabba will mean that a score between 150 to 160 will be a competitive score given the bowler’s bowl well.
