The seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has discussed how Team India’s performance in the just-finished T20 World Cup 2022 disappointed their fans down.
Ashwin noted how the team’s failed attempt to bring home the prized ICC trophy must have left the Indian fans extremely dissatisfied. The Tamil Nadu-born batsman highlighted the need to move on after the failure while stating that there is no justification that will make fans feel any better.

On Wednesday, November 16, Ravichandran Ashwin provided the following explanation on his YouTube channel:
“It would have hurt everyone to watch Team India lose the competition or miss the championship game. Yes, that would have been utterly devastating. Any justification, in my opinion, won’t help you forget it. Undoubtedly, this is a disappointing time. We must all, however, move on.”

Ravichandran Ashwin made the point that, given their success in reaching the semifinals, the Indian team’s efforts should also be commended. He continued by saying that the players were also very dissatisfied after failing to go past the top four stages.
“We can’t call the campaign a failure. We were eliminated in the semi-finals. Reaching the semi-finals and finals is an accomplishment. However, as an Indian fan with high expectations for this team, I completely understand the fans’ disappointment” Ashwin added.
“Congratulations to the English cricket team”: Ravichandran Ashwin
Ashwin emphasized how England has effectively mounted a comeback in white-ball cricket in the wake of their disastrous 2015 ODI World Cup, in which they were ousted in the group round. He claimed that their recent performances have demonstrated how to play the shorter forms to other teams.
“Congratulations to the English cricket team. The renaissance and resurgence of the English white-ball team ever since the 2015 World Cup is nothing but inspiring.”

“They didn’t qualify for the semi-finals in 2015. After that, under Eoin Morgan, they completely changed their style, proving to everyone that this is how white-ball cricket should be played.”
