Afghanistan Cricket Team now suffered their 2nd defeat in the tournament and now is out of the Semi Final race. The team was outplayed by the Mighty Sri Lankan. Afghanistan now has 2 points from 4 matches where their 2 matches were washed out due to rain.
Afghanistan needed to defend 145 runs to stay alive in the tournament. Rashid Khan had a good outing where he took 2 wickets and gave away 31 runs in his 4-over spell. The wrist-spinner had twisted his left knee while fielding against Sri Lana and was in some serious spin.
Rashid Khan Cleared Off Serious Injury
Afghanistan Cricket Board has made it clear that the leg spinner Rashid Khan would be fully fit for the next match. The spinner is quite an integral part of the team as his 4-over spell is quite decisive in deciding the fate of the match. Afghanistan would be hoping that the spinner is back and roaring as the Australian Clash is quite important.
Afghanistan in Deep Trouble
Afghanistan’s strategy of playing with 3 spinners didn’t work well. The pacers weren’t effective and their over-dependency on spinners cost them. The batters couldn’t make an impact as scoring less than 150 runs won’t win too many matches in the marquee tournament.
Skipper Nabi would be hoping that the team spoils the party of Australian who not only have to win the match but win by a huge margin. Australia would be well aware of the fact that Afghanistan has got nothing to lose which makes them a dangerous unit.
