ICC T20 World Cup 2022: BCCI Came Under So Much Pressure That Sanju Samson Was Handed Captaincy Of India A – Danish Kaneria

Former Pakistan National Cricket Team leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has opined that the star India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was appointed as the skipper of India A squad for the series against New Zealand because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came under pressure for not including the wicketkeeper-batsman in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad.

Samson once again failed to make it to India’s World Cup squad and Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik were named as the two wicketkeeper-batters in the 15-member team. However, he has been appointed as the skipper of India A for the three-match series against New Zealand that will be played on September 22, September 25 and September 27.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Kaneria said that Samson enjoys a great fan following. He added that Samson’s batting style would have been an x-factor for India in the Australian conditions, where the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be held in October-November.

“Sanju has great fan following. His batting style, in Australia, gives you an x-factor. On bouncy wickets, nobody plays better than Sanju. Sanju has now been made India A captain (against New Zealand).

“BCCI came under so much pressure (for not selecting Sanju Samson for T20 World Cup), that Sanju has been handed the captaincy of India A ,” said Kaneria on his YouTube channel.

Kaneria further said that leading the national team is always a pride and it would be great for Sanju if he manages to lead his side to the victory in the series against New Zealand.

“That’s a pride, whenever you captain a national team be it any category. This is the best opportunity for Sanju Samson. If he can win the series for India A as captain, it would be great,” added Kaneria.

Talking further about Samson, he was in sensational form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as he scored 458 runs for Rajasthan Royals in 17 matches at an average of 28.63 and a strike rate of 146.79. Also, in 5 T20I innings this year, he scored 179 runs at an average of 44.75.
