Former England National Cricket Team skipper Michael Atherton has said that the star England fast bowling all-rounder Ben Stokes is a “shoo-in to this team, but has not played much T20 for quite some time”.
England National Cricket Team recently defeated Pakistan National Cricket Team in their own backyard in the 7-match T20I series by 4-3. The Three Lions are currently involved in a three-match T20I series against the Australia National Cricket Team ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.

Star all-rounder Ben Stokes made a comeback to the T20I setup after an 18-month absence in the Australia series and so far he has failed to leave any major impact with his performance in two games.
In an interaction with Sky Sports, former England captain Michael Atherton talked about Stokes, who recently retired from ODI cricket after being announced as the Test captain of the Three Lions, and said:
“You could have both Curran and Jordan in the playing XI. Stokes is a shoo-in to this team but has not played much T20 for quite some time. On the plus side, you think that it’s a big tournament and he is a big game player.”

Atherton further pointed out the issues that are surrounding the England National Cricket Team ahead of the marquee tournament.
“But if you look at this format, the truth is that he has just not played that much. So, maybe Malan at No.3, Brook at No.4 and then you can fit in Curran and Jordan,” he further added.
“There are a few issues surrounding the England team. One of which is injuries, the other issue is at the top of the order. Salt did well in Pakistan and is pushing Alex Hales, he spoke about the options that England have in their batting order.”
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.
