Sri Lanka Cricket Team suffered a huge defeat against Namibia. Sri Lanka was completely outplayed by Namibia and it never looked like Namibia is an associate team. Due to this loss, Sri Lanka is now on the brink of getting eliminated from the tournament.

Sri Lanka’s attacking approach has come under the scanner. The Island Nation would be worried as the team is not performing according to their credentials. Skipper Dasun Shanaka needs to come up with the order to provide some stability as he can easily switch his gears.

Chamika Karunaraten was seen interacting with the media ahead of the UAE clash and was asked about the match. “We have everything. We have the power-hitting, we have players who can control the game, and we are fit players, strong players and mindful, tactical – we have all who can play in the different areas, where we have the pace, we have the variation and the spin is really good. What we have to do is we have to bring the right attitude. That’s the most important thing,” said Karunaratne.

“But we have to have that. Not for us, even for the other sides, as well. But I think if we bring the right attitude – that’s the main thing – we can beat any team anytime,”  he added.

Wake-up Call for Sri Lanka

Sri Lankan Cricket team wouldn’t have thought of such an opening match. Sri Lanka should not take UAE lightly as they almost pulled off a heist against the Netherlands. Sri Lanka should recall Charith Asalanka into the playing 11 as he is a bold and dashing batter who can change the dynamics of the match in a couple of overs.

Sri Lanka has to win the next two matches in order to qualify for the marquee tournament. The batters should focus on twos rather than boundaries as going bang-bang is not a sustainable option in Australia. Perhaps, Sri Lanka has to alter their attacking mindset against UAE.
