Star Pakistan National Cricket Team fast bowler Haris Rauf has said that the Melbourne Cricket Ground is his home ground and he has already started planning for the high-voltage match against arch-rivals India National Cricket Team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is the eighth edition of the multi-nation tournament, is scheduled to be played from October 16 to November 13. India will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their tournament opener on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
When India and Pakistan went head-to-head in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup last year, the Virat Kohli-led Team India lost the match by 10 wickets against the Babar Azam-led Pakistan. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 win of Team Pakistan was their first victory against Team India in a World Cup match.
Meanwhile, star Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf said that the matches between India and Pakistan are always high-pressure games.
“The match between India and Pakistan is always a high-pressure game. Whoever the opponent is, it’s always a high-pressure game. During the World Cup last year, I was feeling so much pressure. But in the past two matches in the Asia Cup, I didn’t feel much of it because I knew I just had to give my best,” Haris Rauf said in the post-match interview after the fifth T20I against England.
I play for the Melbourne Stars and I have the idea of how the conditions play out there – Haris Rauf
The 28-year-old Haris Rauf further said that the MCG is his home ground as he represents Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL). He also said that the Indian batters won’t be able to play him easily if he gives his best in the high-voltage game.
“If I give my best, they won’t be able to play me easily. For the upcoming World Cup match, I’m very happy because it is at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. It is my home ground because I play for the Melbourne Stars and I have an idea of how the conditions play out there. I’ve already started planning of how I would bowl against India,” Haris further added.
In the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, India and Pakistan locked horns twice with both teams registering one win each.
