The Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team will open their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals India on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. Before the mega tournament, the Men in Green are playing a tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.

Former Pakistan cricketers have criticized the exclusion of veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik from the squad, with Pakistan’s middle-order batsmen struggling to make an impact. Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir reacted with a cryptic tweet after the announcement of the T20 World Cup lineup. “Chief selector ki cheap selection,” Amit tweeted after PCB announced a 15-man squad.

Pakistan Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim has made a big announcement that there is no chance of Mohammad Amir making a comeback to the national team during his tenure. Wasim stated that since the left-arm pacer himself has retired from international cricket, he cannot even be considered in the first place.

“My work is to select from players who are available for selection. Unfortunately, Mohammad Amir never made himself available in my tenure. He has taken retirement, so I never talked about him. When he is not available, what can I say. The rest, who are available, we do talk about them and consider them. But there is no such policy,” Wasim said on Pakistan journalist Hafiz Muhammad Imran’s channel.

Mohammad Amir played his last international match against England in August 2020. A few months later, he announced his retirement from international cricket. He accused the Pakistan team management of mentally harassing him.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Amir was a part of the Jamaica Tallawahs’ winning campaign in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2022. He finished the tournament with 16 wickets in 11 innings, averaging 15.6 and an economy of 6.43.

In the ongoing tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh, the Babar Azam-led side will look to improve their middle-order. Pakistan’s middle-order batsmen failed to score in the 7-match T20I series against England, which they lost 3-4.
