West Indies Cricket Team had a forgettable T20 World Cup where they were knocked out in the Qualifiers Round. The 2 times T20 World Cup Champions looked in disarray as there was a lack of camaraderie among the players. They lost against Scotland and Ireland and now questions are raised over their preparations.

The Men in Maroon would be in a state of shock as now we can expect a lot of changes in the setup. West Indies Cricket Board’s decision to leave out Andre Russell and Sunil Narine proved to be a bit costly as the duo are not only immensely experienced but know how to perform in ICC events.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul on West Indies

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was having an interaction with Sydney Morning Herald and was asked about West Indies.

We all played for more than just money, we played for pride. There are a lot of Premiere (T20) Leagues around the world. West Indies cricket is not these guys would depend on these days so I do not think they are as keen.

“They can go elsewhere and play and not focus on having to represent West Indies. Whatever comes up, the guys are happy, to make as much as they can while their cricket career lasts,” said Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

West Indies in Deep Trouble

The Men in Maroon will have to quickly regroup and make sure that they are not reflecting on the tournament. They are quite fortunate as they don’t have to play qualifiers for T20 WC 2024 as they are the joint hosts for the tournament along with the USA.

There are chances that Nicholas Pooran may be removed from the captaincy post as he is not able to focus on his batting.

The left-handed batter was in two minds about whether to attack or defend in the tournament which hurt West Indies a lot. it won’t be wrong to say that the sudden retirement of Kieron Pollard changed the dynamics of the team.

At the same time, Phil Simmons has decided to resign after Australia Tests which leaves WICB in a mess.
