If Rishabh Pant is chosen to represent India in the T20 World Cup semi-final match against England, he will be pitted against the first two batters on his T20I dream team.
Since his debut in February 2017 against the same opposition that India will face in a semi-final at Adelaide Oval on Thursday, the left-handed Pant has played in 63 T20Is.
Rishabh Pant Identifies His Top 5 For A T20I Team
At the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2022, India’s keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant identifies five players he would pick first for a T20I team.
Pant is qualified to list the first five players on his own dream team in the T20I format because he has more than five years of experience playing at the highest level.
Speaking to the ICC before India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 campaign got underway, Pant mentioned two opponents he hopes aren’t playing at their peak in the semi-final.
The 25-year-old also included an intriguing name, which he hopes selectors would choose for the crucial match.
Rishabh Pant Names Jos Buttler As His First Pick
Pant picked Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone as his two batters. Both the batters can be a big worry for the Indian bowlers as they play in the Semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
“The first five players which I would pick in a T20 XI for my side are… Jos Buttler,” Pant said.
“Whenever he comes to bat, especially in T20s, I feel he can hit anywhere in this world.”
“I love watching Livingstone, the way he has been playing over the last two, three years,” Pant said.
Rishabh Pant Picks Jasprit Bumrah And Rashid Khan As His Wicket Takers
According to Pant, choosing Jasprit Bumrah is never a doubt and he will be leading his pace attack. Meanwhile, talking about Rashid, Pant stated that he has been a mystery for the last six-seven years and can contribute with the bat too.
“Choosing Bumrah, there is never a doubt,” Pant said.
“You need a fast bowler so I’m going to add Bumrah for that.”
“And Rashid, he’s been a mystery spinner over a period of the last six, seven years now,” Pant said.
“I love him and he can contribute with the bat too.”
Rishabh Pant Picks Himself As The Wicket-keeper Of His Dream Team
Dinesh Karthik, an experienced player, was chosen for the first four games until Pant was added to the India XI for their last Super 12 encounter against Zimbabwe.
Since neither keeper has had much success with the bat during the T20 World Cup, it’s difficult to predict who will be selected for the semifinal match against England.
However, Pant was certain of the wicket-keeper he would pick for his personal T20I ideal team before the event.
“Because I’m choosing this team, I have to be in it,” Pant said with a laugh.
“It’s compulsory for me to choose myself, that’s why I went there.”
