Sunil Gavaskar, a former captain of India, praised No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Kumar and underlined the significance of his contributions to India’s high scores.

On Sunday, Suryakumar Yadav’s stunning batting performance against Zimbabwe at the Melbourne Cricket Ground stunned and astounded the entire cricket world.

In the T20 World Cup, Suryakumar Yadav is in the great form of his life. He is striking the ball with an amazing strike rate and is batting fiercely. On Sunday against Zimbabwe, the 32-year-old played again another brilliant game. He was named Player of the Match for his innings of 61 runs off 25 balls. In 2022, the right-handed batsman also scored 1000 runs in T20I cricket, becoming just the second cricketer in history to do so. He is this year’s leading T20I run scorer with 1026 runs in 28 innings.

Due to Suryakumar Kumar’s counterattack, Team India has frequently scored more than 170-180 runs during the current T20 World Cup. He consistently gives India’s innings the much-needed energy and momentum shift while batting at No. 4.

“Suryakumar Kumar is turning out to be the player who is leading India to totals that can be defended.” India’s total was the highest T20I score at the MCG. “Without his 61, India would not have even reached 150,” Gavaskar told India Today.

Gavaskar also supported the Indian batter’s claim to the title of Mr. 360 and praised him for the variety of shots in his arsenal.

“Each of those innings was nearly 360 degrees.” He has been dubbed “Mr. 360 Degree.” Suryakumar Kumar smashed that one shot for a six close to the left of the wicketkeeper.
