India and Netherlands have never played each other in a T20I. This will be their first meeting in T20 World Cups as well. Both teams have played two ODIs to date both won by India. The Men in Blue have a wealth of experience playing T20 cricket and this is what might be the difference between the two sides in the end.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was very happy after his team won the game against Pakistan. He lauded the fighting spirit of his teammates and especially Virat Kohli who scored an unbeaten 82 to win the game for India.

“You got to expect something like this in a game like this. We wanted to stay in the game for as long as possible. That crucial partnership was a game-changing moment for us. The pitch had something in it. There was a nice carry. Some swing and seam. Good to see from the bowling perspective. They had a good partnership (Iftikhar and Masood) after that.

They batted well toward the end as well. But we knew we had to bat out of our skin to chase this. Those two guys (Kohli and Pandya) are experienced. Staying calm and taking the game deep was very critical. Good for our confidence” said Rohit.

For India, this is a game where they can experiment with their side a little bit. Rishabh Pant can feature in this game in place of either KL Rahul or Dinesh Karthik. If he plays in place of Rahul, he can open the batting with skipper Rohit Sharma. It will be interesting to see if the management thinks of tinkering with the bowling attack. From hindsight, Yuzvendra Chahal should pair up with Ravichandran Ashwin as the leggie has enough experience of bowling in Australian conditions. Besides he is India’s seasoned spinner in the format.

For the Netherlands, their batters need to step up against India. They won two out of their three games making it to the Super 12. In all of those games, their bowlers stepped up. Into the Super 12s now, the Dutch batters need to step up in the remaining games which were also touched upon by their skipper Scott Edwards. Another loss would almost end the campaign for the Dutch.

“Our bowlers were quite amazing, and they (Bangladesh) were around 10-15 runs short. But our run-outs (Max ODowd and Tom Cooper) were poor. Colin Ackermann and Paul van Meekeren helped us to get closer to the total. Hopefully, we can bring in a better performance with the bat, looking forward to the next challenge (against India)” said Edwards.
