IND vs PAK: 3 Reasons Why Fakhar Zaman Is Destined To Fail In ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Fakhar Zaman, who had earlier been named in the reserves list, has been moved into Pakistan’s squad of 15 for the T20 World Cup. Usman Qadir, meanwhile, is now one of three travelling reserves – alongside Mohammad Haris and Shahnawaz Dahani – after failing to recover from a hairline fracture on his right thumb.
Fakhar Zaman was originally dropped from the squad because of poor form and injury, with an uncapped Shan Masood replacing him for the home T20Is against England, the tri-nation series in New Zealand, and the World Cup.
The venue of the 2022 T20I World Cup tournament is Australia. India will play their opening match of the T20I World Cup 2022 on October 23 against Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India is part of group 2 in the tournament with teams like Pakistan, South Africa, and Bangladesh in their pool.
The last time the two teams met at the 2021 T20I World Cup, Pakistan had beaten India by 10 wickets in their Super 12 match in Dubai to register their first-ever win against their neighbours in World Cups.
Babar Azam hit an unbeaten 68, while Mohammad Rizwan smashed an unbeaten 79. Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled a terrific spell of 3/31 with three prized scalps of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli.
IND vs PAK: 3 Reasons Why Fakhar Zaman Is Destined To Fail In ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022
1. Fakhar Zaman’s Poor T20I Numbers
The Pakistan middle-order batter averages only 21.76 in T20Is having scored 1349 runs in 71 T20Is. His strike rate of 129.09 isn’t too great. He has only hit 8 fifties since his debut in 2017 in T20Is.

The Pakistan batter’s recent form isn’t too great. Apart from a moderate ICC T20 World Cup 2021, where he averaged 27.25 and against Bangladesh where he averaged 91 in 2 T20Is, his form isn’t much to speak about. He averaged 5 against Zimbabwe in 2021, 19.33 against England in 2021, 15 against West Indies in 2021, 10.67 against West Indies in 2022, was dismissed for a duck in a T20I against Australia and averaged only 16 in Asia Cup 2022.
3. Fakhar Zaman Had A Poor T20I Record In 2022
The middle-order batter also had the poor year in 2022 as he averaged a mere 13.71 in 7 T20Is managing only 96 runs. He scored only 1 fifty and had registered two ducks. His strike rate of 102. 13 was also below par.
