IND vs PAK: Mohammad Rizwan Becomes Leading Run-Scorer In T20Is In 2022, Surpasses Suryakumar Yadav

Star Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who opens the innings for his side, has leapfrogged the star India National Cricket Team middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav to become the leading run-getter in T20Is in 2022.

Mohammad Rizwan went past Suryakumar’s tally of 801 runs during the tri-series final against the New Zealand National Cricket Team at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Friday, October 14.

Heading into the game, the Pakistan National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter needed just 15 runs to leapfrog star India middle-order batter and with a single on the first ball of the sixth over during the run-chase, he became the leading run-getter in T20Is in 2022.

Overall, he scored 34 runs off 29 balls, including 4 fours, in the match before being dismissed by leg-spinner Ish Sodhi in the 12th over.

Also, Pakistan National Cricket Team middle-order batters Mohammad Nawaz, Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed batted brilliantly to help their side win the final of the tri-series by 5 wickets against the BlackCaps.

Mohammad Rizwan Becomes Leading Run-getter In T20Is In 2022 With Tally Of 821 Runs

The No.1 batter in the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, Mohammad Rizwan, has scored 821 T20I runs in 18 games in 2022. He has scored his runs at an average of 54.73 and a strike rate of 126.30, including 9 half-centuries. Following him on the list is India star Suryakumar, who has smashed 801 T20I runs in 23 innings at an average of 40.05 and a strike rate of 184.56, including one century and 6 half-centuries.

Talking further about Rizwan, who had scored 1326 T20I runs in 26 innings last year, the wicketkeeper-batter was the leading run-getter in the Asia Cup 2022 with 281 runs in his bag. Also, in the recently concluded home T20I series against England, he scored 316 runs.

The star wicketkeeper-batter will be hopeful of continuing his brilliant form in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. In the last year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in UAE, he finished as the thigh-highest run-getter with a tally of 281 runs.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is scheduled to commence on October 16 with the group stage matches. The Super 12 round will commence on October 22 and the final is set to take place on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Pakistan National Cricket Team will lock horns with arch-rivals India National Cricket Team in their tournament opener on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Notably, Rizwan has scored 193 runs in three innings against the Men in Blue.
