Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has said that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will not be Kohli’s last T20 World Cup as he will not retire from the shortest format of the game and might represent India in the 2024 T20 World Cup, which will be played in the West Indies and the United States.

Virat Kohli has been in very good form with the bat since the Asia Cup 2022. He will be looking forward to continuing his dominance with the bat in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which began on October 16 with group-stage games.

The Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup 2022 will commence on October 22 and the final is set to take place on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India National Cricket Team will lock horns with arch-rivals Pakistan National Cricket Team in their tournament opener on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Speaking to India News, Sharma said that Kohli will serve the Indian team for a very long time.

“I want to clarify that it won’t be the last T20 World Cup for Virat Kohli. He will serve Team India for a long time. With his form, fitness, and hunger to score runs and win matches, I hope he will also be seen in the next T20 World Cup [in 2024],” Rajkumar told India News.

Sharma further said that Kohli has recently overcome a huge lean patch and he is eager to deliver good performances for India. He said:

“He has overcome a huge lean patch and everyone knows his performance. He looks fresh and eager to do well. I hope he will play a crucial role if India wants to win this T20 World Cup.”

Kohli, who smashed his long-awaited 71st international century in the Asia Cup 2022 game against Afghanistan, is the second-highest run-getter in the history of T20I cricket, just behind Rohit Sharma. He has scored 3712 runs at an average of 50.84 and a strike rate of 138.09.
