IND vs ZIM: "He Can Swing The Ball Both Ways, He's Sensible, Can Bowl Yorkers, And Slow Ball" - Wasim Akram Heaps Praise on Arshdeep Singh

Young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has impressed everyone with his superb show in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. The 23-year-old pacer made a dream World Cup debut for India by removing Pakistan’s Babar Azam on his first ball. He took nine wickets at an average of 14.67 at an economy rate of 8.25 and picked up wickets in all Super 12 matches.

The left arm pacer bowled a superb final over and saved 20 runs in a high pressure situation. India secured a narrow five-run win through the Duckworth-Lewis method in the Super 12 match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 2.

Arshdeep Singh Got Bright Future – Wasim Akram

Former Pakistani captain and legendary pacer Wasim Akram, who has been impressed by Arshdeep’s performance in international cricket so far, has praised him and stated that the youngster has a bright future ahead of him.

“He’s got nine wickets in the tournament so far. The most in Super 12. Uska talent maine aur Waqar (Younis) ne toh Asia Cup me hi dekh liya tha. Jiss tareeke se vo ball ko swing karta hai, naya ball dono taraf.

“He’s got a bright future. sensible bowler hai, yorker achha karta hai, aur slow ball bhi acchi hai. Do wickets jo usne liye hai; usne match ka paasa palat diya. (Waqar and I saw his talent in the Asia Cup. He can swing the ball both ways. He’s got a bright future, he’s sensible, can bowl yorkers, and slow ball. The two wickets he took changed the course of the game),” Akram said on A Sports.

Former captain Shoaib Malik, who was also part of the discussion, was equally impressed by the Indian youngster and lauded him by saying: “Asia Cup me badi crunch situation me usne run bhi diye, catch bhi drop kiya, par confidence nahi neeche gaya uska. Aapse kharab performance hogi, lekin kabhi bhi ye naa bhoolein ki aap apni ability se aaye hain. 

“(He got hammered for runs in crunch situations in the Asia Cup, dropped catch too, but didn’t lose his confidence. Your performance will go down, but you shouldn’t forget that you came here due to your abilities.),” said Malik.
