Team India entered the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 as one of the top contenders to lift the trophy, hoping to end a 15-year trophy drought by winning the marquee event in Australia. The young team led by MS Dhoni won the inaugural season of the event in 2007, and Indian cricket fans want Rohit Sharma to lift the trophy this time.

The Men in Blue have won three out of four matches to lead the Group 2 points table with six points, followed by South Africa with five points and Pakistan with four points. They need another win in their final Super 12 match against Zimbabwe to seal the top spot in Group 2.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) newly appointed Roger Binny, who was invited as the Chief Guest on the annual day of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA), said that he hopes India can win the T20 World Cup this time.

We Are Better At Chasing Scores Than Defending Them – Roger Binny

“Hopefully Rohit Sharma and his men will win the T20 World Cup this time. We have made it to the semifinals and finals (earlier). Often it depends on that day. Luck plays a part. This is very much so in Twenty20 cricket. We are better at chasing scores than defending them,” Former Indian all-rounder said.

“The power play is one of the important areas. I think the openers have to give us a strong start. If we get that good start, there’s a better chance of winning. Any team is comfortable chasing, they are not happy to bat first. Most teams prefer to chase down the total because the wickets are such, it keeps getting slower and slower as the game goes on,” Binny said when asked what the batters’ approach should be during the power play.
