ACC President and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah’s statement that Asia Cup 2023 should be played in a neutral venue has raised a lot of eyebrows. PCB has got furious over this decision as according to ICC FTP they were given the rights to host the tournament.

Asia Cup 2023 is going to be played in the ODI format and is scheduled just before ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. PCB has also given a kind of warning, that they won’t play in India for ICC tournaments. PCB would be hoping that the members of ACC and ICC take note of this as their nation hasn’t hosted a multi-national event for a long time.

Roger Binny was seen interacting with ANI and was asked about Asia Cup 2023. “That isn’t our call. We can’t say where our team has to go. We need to take clearance from Govt if we leave the country, or other countries come here. We can’t take that decision on our own, we’ve to rely on govt,” said Binny.

Asia Cup 2023 in Danger

As of now, it looks like UAE would be the preferred location for hosting Asia Cup 2023 as it also hosted Asia Cup 2022. PCB would be dejected if the Asia Cup 2023 doesn’t happen in Pakistan; because they also have the hosting rights for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Recently, Australia and England toured Pakistan and they were pretty much happy with the arrangements. PCB is trying hard to make sure that Cricket returns to Pakistan. PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja would be wondering what the board needs to normalize things.
