England Cricket Team registered a convincing victory against Pakistan in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. England would be ecstatic with this win as not many gave them a chance after losing against Ireland in the group stage. The team showed great intent as scoring against Pakistan’s bowlers was not easy.

Pakistan on the other hand would be disappointed with their performance. The Men in Green were not up to the mark while batting as scoring a paltry 137 runs won’t be enough in a high-voltage final. The problem with Pakistan throughout the tournament was that they didn’t have a reliant finisher who could surprise the opponent.

England Attains Rare Feat

England had won the 2019 Cricket World Cup and now the 2022 T20 World Cup. The peculiarity of these triumphs for England was that Ben Stokes played magnificent knocks on both occasions.  England now has joined West indies in the elite list as now England and West Indies are the only 2 teams who have won the T20 World Cups twice. The stand-out aspect for England in this T20 World Cup was that they performed as a team in tough situations.

Ben Stokes Invaluable

The management and Skipper Jos Buttler used Ben Stokes quite uniquely. They gave him the new ball in the hand which was quite surprising as Stokes hadn’t bowled with the new ball in his career. Ben Stokes played the role of anchor throughout the tournament as his job was to make sure that there are no more collapses.

The left-handed batter showed to the World Cricket that T20I Cricket isn’t about playing attacking cricket. His 52 runs knock in 49 balls against Pakistan was priceless as he was not only holding one end but he frustrated the bowlers by rotating the strike and never letting the pressure affect him. Earlier Ben Stokes retired from ODI Cricket due to overload issues and it would be interesting to see if he continues to play T20Is as of now he is looking unstoppable.
