England National Cricket Team white-ball captain Jos Buttler has said that the star all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is also the Test captain of England, can be in the conversation for being ‘England’s Greatest Cricketer Of All Time.’
Ben Stokes once again delivered under pressure as he played a game-changing knock in the summit clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. He remained unbeaten in the high-voltage game against Pakistan at the MCG and helped England win the final by 5 wickets with 6 balls remaining. Ben Stokes batted cautiously and scored 52 runs off 49 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six.

After Ben Stokes’ heroics in yet another mega event, Jos Buttler was asked if Ben Stokes can be called the greatest England cricketer of all time.
“Yeah, he can be in the conversation for sure,” a confident Jos Buttler answered in the post-match press conference, as quoted by ICC.
“He’s a true match-winner, and he’s been there in those scenarios time and time again. He just has a lot of know-how for how to do that,” Buttler said.
Jos Buttler added that Stokes didn’t play very fluent innings and he wasn’t timing the ball very nicely, but he gave a good fight to the Men In Green and stayed in the middle until the end.
“I think it certainly wasn’t his most fluent innings or probably didn’t time the ball as well as he can, but you knew he was never going to go down without a fight and stand up and be there at the end,” Buttler added.
We were immensely lucky to have him – Jos Buttler on Ben Stokes

England National Cricket Team white-ball captain also said that they are “immensely lucky” to have a player like Stokes in the squad.
“We were immensely lucky to have him, and he’s one of the great players of English cricket,” he said.
Jos Buttler further talked about Stokes’ redemption after the forgettable final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2016 at the Wankhede Stadium where he was smashed for four sixes by Carlos Brathwaite and England lost the final. Buttler joked that it was a “shame he did his documentary a year early”.
“It’s an amazing story really, isn’t it? I think all these big moments, like I’ll always remember his words to Jofra about how things don’t define you, and I think he’s obviously never let that 2016 final sort of push him back, and you think of the things he’s gone on to achieve in his career since then is just amazing,” he added.
England have become the first-ever team to hold the 50-over World Cup title and the 20-over World Cup title at the same time. Buttler, meanwhile, agreed that the current England team is in the conversation to be the greatest white-ball team of all time.
“To have won in 2019 and now win this T20 World Cup, as well, it just shows the vision at the start that people had where we could get to as an England white ball team. There’s no reason why we shouldn’t go on from strength to strength,” he said.
