In the 23rd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team went head-to-head with Scott Edwards-led Netherlands National Cricket Team at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27.

India National Cricket Team defeated Netherlands National Cricket Team by 56 runs to win their second consecutive game in the ongoing multi-nation tournament. The Men In Blue will next lock horns with Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team at the Perth Stadium on Sunday, October 30.

Earlier, India National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. Both the sides made no changes to the team and they fielded an unchanged playing XI.

India were off to a poor start in the match as struggling KL Rahul got dismissed by Paul van Meekeren in the 3rd over for 9. India batted slowly in the next few overs and at the end of the powerplay, they were at 32/1.

Then, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had an incredible 73 runs partnership in 56 balls, before the former was cleaned up by Fred Klaassen in the 12th over. Rohit Sharma scored 53 runs off 39 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes.

After losing the openers, Virat Kohli kept batting brilliantly and he had yet another sensational partnership with Suryakumar Yadav. They added unbeaten 95 runs in 48 balls to help India post 179/2 on the board.

Kohli smashed terrific 62 runs off 44 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes, while Suryakumar Yadav smashed exceptional 51 runs off 25 balls, including 7 fours and 1 six.

Chasing the target, Netherlands opener Vikramjit Singh struggled heavily against pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the first over was a maiden and on the second ball of the third over, he was castled for 1. Max O’Dowd was bamboozled by Axar Patel in the 5th over and at the end of the powerplay, they were at 27/2.

Then, Bas de Leede was sent back by Axar Patel in the 10th over for 16 while Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Colin Ackermann for 17 in the 13th over and Tom Cooper for 9 in the same over. After that, the pacers came into the attack and they restricted the Netherlands to 123/9.

Speedsters Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bagged two wickets each while Mohammed Shami bagged one wicket. Also, spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel bagged two wickets each.
