ICC Womens Batting Rankings

The ICC Women's batting rankings is a system devised by the ICC to rank the batters in women's ODI cricket. The players are ranked on a point based system and are rated on a scale of 0 to 1000 points.

Not only the current form but the past performance of the player is also considered when calculating the rating points. As a result, if the player's performance is improving on his past record, her points increase. On the other hand, if the player's performance decline, her points decrease.

According to ICC's official website, the 'value of each player’s performance within a match is calculated using an algorithm, a series of calculations (all pre-programmed) based on various circumstances'. So the players' performance is not the sole criteria while calculating the value.

Apart from the performance of the player, several other factors are also taken into account - such as quality of the opposition team, the match condition as well as the importance of the game. No human intervention is involved in the calculation of the points. As a result, there is no scope for subjective assessment while calculating the value of a player's performance in the game.

The ICC updates the ICC Women's batting rankings for both the white-ball formats regularly. The rankings are updated every Tuesday. At present, South Africa's Laura Wolvaardt is the number one ODI batter in the world while Australia's Beth Mooney is the number one T20I batter in the world.
