Deandra Dottin is off to a fantastic start in the World Cup. She had a furious start in the opening match against New Zealand, being aggressive with the bat and defending 6 runs in the last over by giving only 2 runs and taking 2 wickets with a runout, resulting in the Windies winning the match.

At the ICC Women’s World Cup on Wednesday, West Indies opener Deandra Dottin delivered a moment of brilliance on the field to dismiss England’s Lauren Winfield-Hill.

When Winfield-Hill sliced a short delivery from Shamila Connell, Dottin was fielding at point. Dottin moved to her left and put out her hand, which she superbly collected with one hand to give the West Indies a perfect start on the field.

She looked impressive with the bat in the second game, scoring 31 runs with two boundaries and a maximum, putting together an excellent 81-run opening partnership with Hayley Matthews, which is the highest for the West Indies in World Cup history. Later in the game, while fielding, she made a spectacular catch to eliminate Lauren Winfield Hill for 12 and kept West Indies in the game.

England got off to a good start, scoring at a rate of three runs per over. Shamilia Connell, a right-arm fast bowler, stepped in to bowl her fifth over of her term when the score was 31. Hill attempted to score a boundary in the first ball by cutting past the point region.

Deandra Dottin, who was at the point, leapt to her left and caught a stunning one-handed catch with her left hand, breaking England’s 31-run opening partnership.

The Windies needed to strike early with the ball, and they did it as a courtesy to Dottin’s spectacular catch. The game went down to the wire as England continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Sophia Dunkley threatened to steal the game from the West Indies, but her wicket pushed the defending team ahead.

Sophie Ecclestone and Kate Cross developed a critical alliance, and England appeared to be on the verge of a historic victory. Anisa Mohammed, on the other hand, effected a critical runout and took the final wicket to give West Indies a dramatic victory.
