ICC Women's World Cup 2022: Jhulan Goswami Makes Massive ODI Record, Joins Mithali Raj In Elite List

Veteran Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami became only the second women cricketer to play 200 ODI matches. In the process, she joins her teammate Mithali Raj in an elite list. The ODI against Australia marks the 200th of her ODI career and is probably playing in her last international assignment for India. Goswami made her debut in 2002 against England in Chennai.
Mithali Raj leads the list with 230 ODI appearances for India. The Indian duo surpassed former England captain Charlotte Edwards who played 191 ODIs and held the record for a long time. Goswami also became the highest wicket-taker in Women’s World Cups in the match against West Indies. she went past the likes of Australia’s Lynette Fullston (39 wickets), England duo of Carole Hodges (37 wickets) and Claire Taylor (36) and another Australian in Cathryn Fitzpatrick (33).

In the match against England, Jhulan Goswami also went past 250 ODI wickets for India. England’s Tammy Beaumont was her 250th scalp in ODIs. She became the seventh Indian bowler to take 250 wickets for India. joining an elite list that features Anil Kumble (334), Javagal Srinath (315), Ajit Agarkar (288), Zaheer Khan (269), Harbhajan Singh (265), and Kapil Dev (253).
Meanwhile, India are playing a must-win match against Australia in Auckland at the moment. Having lost games against New Zealand and England in the championship so far, India have got themselves into the must-win territory. Australia, on the other hand, are unbeaten in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 so far.
Australia won the toss and asked India to bat first. The side is eyeing to get to 300 batting first. Mithali Raj got her first fifty of this edition of the World Cup. However, she was dismissed for 68. Yastika Bhatia scored a crucial 59. All eyes are now on Harmanpreet Kaur who to take India close to 300.
