Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team made a brilliant comeback in the five-match Test series against England and defeated the visitors by 106 runs in the second Test match. England were not able to chase down 399 runs in the second innings and were wrapped up for 292 runs. Indian bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3 wickets apiece whereas the other Indian bowlers picked up one wicket each.
Batting first in Visakhapatnam, the Indian cricket team put up a score of 396 runs, wherein young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal rose to the occasion and slammed his first Test double hundred. Jaiswal played an innings of 209 runs from 290 balls and showcased a tremendous display of batting. Apart from Jaiswal no other Indian batsman was able to convert their start to a big score and were dismissed cheaply.
From Rohit Sharma to Axar Patel, every batsman ended up scoring 20 to 40 odd runs, whereas it was only Yashasvi Jaiswal, who shined for India in the first innings. England pacer James Anderson, spinners Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir picked up 3 wickets each whereas Tom Hartley ended up with 1 wicket.

In reply, England showcased a flop batting performance and were all out for 253 runs in their first innings. Zak Crawley top scored with 76 runs from 74 balls, whereas, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah ripped through the English batting lineup and picked up a six fer. England captain Ben Stokes was the second-highest scorer of the innings and scored 47 runs from 54 balls.
The Indian team led by 143 before the start of their second innings, and England needed a strong bowling performance to come back in the match. The same happened as England were able to dismantle India for 255 runs in their second innings and were set up a target of 399 runs by the hosts.

However, Indian batsman Shubman Gill was the shining aspect for India in the second innings as he slammed an under-pressure hundred. Gill played an innings of 104 runs from 147 balls, and once again proved his worth in the team. On the other hand, Tom Hartley picked up 4 wickets with the ball whereas, Rehan Ahmed ended up picking 3 wickets. James Anderson and Shoaib Bashir picked up 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
Chasing down 399 wouldn’t have been an easy task for England. England started off well as openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley added 50 runs for the first wicket. While Duckett got out for 23 runs, Crawley scored another half-century and played an innings of 73 runs. However, after he was dismissed no other English batsman stayed at the crease for long and fell against the Indian bowlers. Tom Hartley and Ben Foakes showed some fight and added over 50 runs for the 8th wicket, however, at last, the Indian team proved to be too much for the English tail.
Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up 3 wickets each whereas, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, and Axar Patel ended up with 1 wicket apiece.
