New Zealand takes on South Africa in the second Test in Hamilton starting from February 13. They won the second Test by 281 runs and are leading the series 1-0. They are also topping the WTC points table with a PCT point of 66.66. The Proteas are placed seventh in the table.
New Zealand’s first innings score of 511 was too much for the Proteas who were bowled out for 162 and 247 in the two innings of the Test match. The team is now eyeing a clean sweep by winning the second Test in Hamilton.
Heading into the second Test, Daryl Mitchell is ruled out with a foot injury. He will miss the next Test match and the following T20I series against Australia. Tim Southee will lead the side. He has Matt Henry, and Neil Wagner as his bowling partners along with Mitchell Santner being the specialist spinner.

Conway will open the batting along with Latham. He made his Test debut in 2021 and rose quickly in the format. He has played 19 Test matches and is approaching 1500 runs in the format.
Will Young
Will Young will replace Daryl Mitchell in the XI. The all-rounder who was ruled out with a foot injury will now be replaced by a specialist batter. Young has played 13 Test matches and is yet to score 1000 runs in the format.
Rachin Ravindra
Ravindra was recalled in the Kiwi Test squad in the first Test. He scored his maiden Test ton and was named the Man of the Match for his exploits. He has played just four Test matches in his young career so far.
Kane Williamson
The veteran skipper will slot in at five. He scored a century in each inning of the first Test breaking few records. The next Test match will be the 99th of his career. He is approaching 9000 Test runs.
Tom Blundell (WK)
Blundell will be the specialist wicketkeeper batting at six. He scored 11 and 5* in the two innings of the first Test. He has played 29 Test matches scoring nearly 2000 runs with four centuries to his name.
Glenn Phillips
Phillips will slot in at seven. He scored 39 in the first innings and took one wicket for 30 runs in the second innings. The right-hander has played just four Test matches scoring nearly 300 runs and picking up nine wickets.
Mitchell Santner
Santner will slot in at eighth lengthening the batting lineup. He has played 26 Test matches scoring close to 1000 runs and picking up 53 wickets in the format. He picked up six wickets in the first Test.
Tim Southee (C)
Southee will lead the side and bat at nine. He took just one wicket and was expensive throughout the Test match. The Kiwi skipper has scored over 2000 runs and picked up 375 Test wickets. He will be playing his 98th Test match.
Kyle Jamieson
Jamieson will be the second seamer in the XI. He started as an all-rounder but then shifted his focus to bowling. He has been injury-prone in his career in the recent past. He picked up six wickets in the Test match including a four-wicket-haul in the first innings.
Matt Henry
Henry concludes the likely XI for New Zealand in the second Test against South Africa. He picked up four wickets in the first Test. He has picked 76 wickets in 22 Test matches.
