Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table after BAN vs SL 1st Test, WTC Table and Rankings

The Sri Lankan national cricket team secured its first victory in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. Sri Lanka achieved a comfortable 328-run victory in the first Test of the two-match series against Bangladesh on Monday, March 25.
The visiting team bowlers bundled out the opposition for 182 runs in the final innings at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet. Kasun Rajitha was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka, as he took five wickets for 56 runs in Bangladesh’s second innings.
Sri Lanka skipper Dhananjaya de Silva was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his outstanding performance with the bat across both innings. The right-handed batter also made history by becoming the first Sri Lankan skipper to score twin hundreds in a Test match.
Updated ICC World Test Championship Points Table after BAN vs SL 1st Test
This marks Sri Lanka’s first win out of three matches in the ongoing WTC cycle. The Dhananjaya de Silva-led team has climbed to 6th place in the WTC points table. The Sri Lanka cricket team holds the 6th spot in the 9-team table with a point percentage of 33.33.
The Rohit Sharma-led side leads the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. The India team has maintained its position with a point percentage of 68.51. Team India secured a 4-1 victory over England in the recent five-match Test series at home.
Meanwhile, the defending champions, Australia, occupy second place with a points percentage of 62.50. New Zealand holds the second position in the ongoing WTC cycle. The Tim Southee-led side has won three out of six matches, maintaining a point percentage of 50.

Kamindu Mendis Scored Twin Centuries In First Test
Earlier, Sri Lanka managed to score 280 runs in 68 overs during the first innings. Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis both scored centuries, rescuing the visiting team from a difficult position with a crucial 202-run partnership after initially struggling at 57-5.
In reply, Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, struggled in their first innings and were dismissed for 188 runs. Taijul Islam was the top scorer with 47 runs. Sri Lanka capitalized on their 92-run lead and set a formidable target for Bangladesh in the final innings.
Dhananjaya de Silva and Mendis both scored centuries as Sri Lanka posted 418 runs in their second innings. Kamindu Mendis achieved a unique feat by becoming the first batter in history to score two centuries in a Test match while batting at number 7 or below.
