Pakistan National Cricket Team have surpassed India National Cricket Team to become the No.2 ranked side in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 points table by defeating Bangladesh National Cricket Team in the first Test of the two-match Test series by 8 wickets at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on Tuesday, November 30.
In the ICC World Test Championship, 2021-23 teams will be ranked based on the percentage of points. A winning team gets 12 ( 100%) points for a win, 6 (50%) points for a tie and 4 (33.33%) points for a draw. Also for slow over-rates teams will lose one championship point for each over short.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first and the top three batters were only able to score 14 runs each and captain Mominul Haque was able to score only 6 runs. However, Mushfiqur Rahim (91) and Liton Das (114) helped Bangladesh score 330 runs in the first innings. Hasan Ali was the top performer from Pakistan as he bagged a 5-wicket haul.
In Pakistan’s first innings opening batsman, Abid Ali smashed an amazing century and Abdullah Shafique scored a half-century but other Pakistan batters failed and Pakistan scored 286 runs. Also, Taijul Islam was the top performer for Bangladesh as he bagged a 7-wicket haul.
When Bangladesh came out to bat in the second innings other than Liton Das no batsman looked good and Shaheen Shah Afridi bagged a 5-wicket haul, Sajid Khan picked 3 wickets and Hasan Ali picked 2-wickets to restrict Bangladesh at the score of 157.
Chasing the target of 202 runs Pakistan openers Abdullah Shafique and Abid Ali once again batted brilliantly and in the end, Babar Azam and Azhar Ali marched Pakistan towards a comfortable victory.
