Indian cricket team won the toss & elected to bowl first due to overcast conditions in the WTC final. Aussies were dealt with a huge blow as Usman Khawaja was dismissed cheaply. Marnus Labuschagne was quite watchful at the start. Marnus Labuschagne & David Warner stitched a 69 runs partnership.

David Warner took on Umesh Yadav and was seen making good use of the crease and frustrating the bowlers with his wide range of shots. It seemed as if the vintage David Warner was back.

David Warner would be disappointed as the dynamic left-handed batter was dismissed on 43 runs in 60 balls and struck 8 fours. At the end of the morning session, Australia’s score was 73 runs for the loss of 2 wickets.

Watch- Mohammed Shami rattles Marnus Labuschagne’s Stumps

At the end of 24 overs, Australia’s score was 76-2. Mohammed Shami was bowling the 25th over, on the very first delivery Shami bowled a bit fuller length delivery that shaped in brilliantly. Labuschagne tried to play a straight drive but missed it completely and his stumps were rattled.

Australia would be worried as now both the star players, David Warner & Marnus Labuschagne, are back in the dugout. Australia’s score at 24.1 overs was 76-3 and Labuschagne was dismissed on 26 runs in 62 balls.

Crucial Phase for Australia

Steve Smith now has to make sure that he not only gets a significant score on board but stays till the end of the innings as the middle-order is quite fragile. It won’t be easy for the likes of Travis Head & Cameron Green to dictate the terms from the word go.

India now all of sudden would sense that they can restrict Australia below 250 runs which would give them a strong chance to win the match. The Men in Blue have to bat last on the track which won’t be easy.
