Virat Kohli has named two Australian batsmen whom Team India want to dismiss cheaply during ICC World Test Championship final. Virat Kohli feels that Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschangne are two crucial batters in Australian team who control their middle order.

India and Australia are facing each other in ICC World Test Championship final 2023, which began on Wednesday (June 7). The venue of the match is Kennington Oval Stadium in London. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match.

Steve Smith is The Best Player Of This Generation: Virat Kohli

While speaking to Star Sports, Virat Kohli heaped praises on Steve Smith. Kohli said that according to him, Steve Smith is the best player of this generation.

“According to me, Steve Smith is the best player of this generation. And he has proved for a long time that his adaptability is amazing. Among all the Test cricketers of this generation, Steve Smith has the best average of about 60 from around 85 or 90 Tests which is quite unbelievable.

I have not seen any batsman scoring runs with such an impact and consistency like that of Steve Smith for the last 10 years. Credit to his skills and temperament”, Kohli said in the video. Have a look at the video below.

Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne Are Two Crucial Batsmen For Australia: Virat Kohli

Kohli also said that Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are two crucial batsmen for Australia who control their middle order. Team India want to dismiss them cheaply as they can have a match-winning impact on the game.

“Defitnitely for us, there are two main players in their team- Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne. Labuschagne is also playing very good cricket. I think these two are the crucial players who control Australia’s middle order. Steve Smith have always scored runs against us and also performed brilliantly in England. So, we always want to get these big players out as soon as possible because if they play for long, they can put a match-winning impact on the game”, the former India skipper further said.

Steve Smith has shown amazing form in 2023 in Tests, smashing 249 runs in 8 innings at an average of 41.50 with 1 century. In the last two years, he held a batting average of 50+. Marnus Labuschagne has featured in 6 Tests this year so far and hit 331 runs at an average of 47.28 with 2 fifties.
