Former England captain Michael Vaughan has once again ridiculed Ben Duckett for the recent remark he made about a realistic target during the third Test against India in Rajkot.

England suffered a humiliating 434-run defeat in the game, their heaviest in terms of runs since 1934. Replying to India’s first innings total of 445, England were cruising at 224 for 2 thanks to Ben Duckett’s stunning century before suffering an inexplicable collapse. They lost their last eight wickets for just 95 runs to be bowled out for 319 runs.

In reply, India piled up 430 for 4 (declared) in their second innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring an unbeaten double-century. Set an improbable target of 557 runs, England’s batters completely failed to pose any challenge with the bat as the tourists were bowled out for just 122. Except for Mark Wood (33), no other England player could even touch the 20-run mark during the disastrous display.

Michael Vaughan trolls Ben Duckett again:

After England’s heavy defeat, Ben Duckett has been facing the heat for his comments during the Test. The England opener faced criticism from several quarters for saying that England should get credit for the opposition batsmen’s aggressive batting. His comments came after Jaiswal completed a quickfire ton on day three of the Test.

Not only that, but Ben Duckett also came up with ‘the more the better’ remark when he was asked about a realistic target, saying: “The more the better. This team is all about doing special things and creating history. They can have as many as they want and we’ll go and get them.”

He has been criticized and ridiculed for his comments not only by fans but also by several former cricketers including the likes of Michael Clarke and Nasser Hussain. And Michael Clarke has taken another dig at the England batsman while speaking on the Club Prairie podcast.

“Ben Duckett, I reckon would probably before the Ranchi Test, do a presser and I think he’s going to take credit for the way you played as well,” Michael Vaughan told ex-Australia cricketer Adam Gilchrist.
