ICC Rankings: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and Dhruv Jurel attain career-best rankings after starring in Ranchi Test

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Dhruv Jurel have made significant gains in the latest ICC Rankings for Test batsmen, announced by the governing body of the game on Wednesday (February 28).
The youngsters starred with the bat in the recently concluded fourth Test against England in Ranchi to power India to a series-clinching win. While Jaiswal scored 73 runs in the first innings, Dhruv Jurel scored 90 runs to help India recover from 177 for 7 and post 307 in reply to England’s first innings total of 353.
Jaiswal scored 37 runs in the second innings before Gill and Jurel took India home. India were reeling at 120 for 5 in pursuit of 192 when Gill and Jurel joined hands and shared an unbeaten stand of 72 runs to take India over the finishing line. Gill remained unbeaten on 52 while Jurel remained unbeaten on 39. Jurel was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his impressive displays.
ICC Rankings for the Test batters:
Jaiswal, Gill, and Jurel have reached new career-best marks in the latest ICC Test Rankings after impressing in Ranchi. While Jaiswal has moved up three places to 12th, Gill has jumped four places to 31st. On the other hand, Jurel has jumped up 31 spots and is currently occupying 69th position in the ICC Rankings.
New Zealand star Kane Williamson is currently at the top of the ICC Rankings for Test batters with 893 rating points followed by Australia’s Steve Smith who has 818 rating points. Joe Root has moved up two spots to third after scoring a fine century in the Ranchi Test. Daryl Mitchell and Babar Azam complete the top five.
England opener Zak Crawley, who scored a half-century in the Ranchi Test, has also attained a career-best ranking after rising 10 spots to 17.
Among bowlers, India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is at the top of the list despite being rested for the Ranchi Test. He is followed by Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood in the top five of ICC Rankings for Test bowlers.
Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav has jumped 10 spots to equal 32nd, attaining a new career-high ranking following his four-wicket haul in the second innings of the Ranchi Test.
