India’s left-hand opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal is experiencing roses and daffodils in only his maiden home Test series against England. He is currently leading the run-scoring chart in the 5-match Anthony De Mello Test series and is far ahead of the 2nd best batter Ben Duckett.

The template in which he has batted throughout the series is perfect and well-suited for the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma, believes former India captain Anil Kumble.

The legendary leg-spinner who is the only bowler from the country to have registered 600+ Test wickets, made these comments while doing commentary in the ongoing series with Jio Cinema.

Yesterday while analyzing the day’s play yesterday at the JSCA stadium here in Ranchi, Kumble claimed that Yashasvi Jaiswal will be very happy with his performance and the way he has carried himself throughout this last month.

“He will be satisfied”, Kumble opines on Jaiswal’s mindset

Anil Kumble opined that Jaiswal will be more than satisfied with the way his first home Test series has panned out.

The 22-year-old has already amassed 655 runs in the series and he has two more innings left to play in the 5th and series concluding Test match at the scenic venue of HPCA stadium in Dharamshala, which is slated to start from March 7 onwards.

“Yashasvi Jaiswal will be very satisfied with the series that he has had. He has two more innings in Dharamsala, he will be satisfied with the performance that he has been able to churn, right from the first innings in Hyderabad.” – Kumble said via Jio Cinema.

With India conquering yet another Test series on home soil, this one will specifically be talked about for a long time. The hosts were deprived of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, the latter was unavailable after the 1st Test while the former skipped the entire series for the birth of his second child.

In their absence, the Indian team management handed debuts to Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel, and also Akash Deep who came in for Jasprit Bumrah for the 4th Test victory.

All 4 of them except Patidar whose international career has started on a disappointing note, will be happy with their performances, especially Sarfaraz and Jurel who have scored 2 and 1 half century respectively.

Kumble points out Yashasvi Jaiswal’s control

The series will also be remembered for Yashasvi Jaiswal and all of his heroics throughout, scoring 2 double centuries and contributing to the series win. But one of the many good things about his batting was the control he had over his shot selection as well as game awareness and ability to slow down and accelerate in different situations.

“Generally, he has been in control of all his stroke-making, his defense, situational awareness, and cricketing mind that has come to effect in all his innings has been fantastic. It’s wonderful and augurs well for India. He is a left-handed opener and it has been a while since we have had that in the Indian team.” – Anil Kumble concluded.
